3 Generations
Hofer Market looks back on a long tradition that began in 1969. In this year, the founding couple Sabina and Walter Hofer ventured into self-employment.
With four children and a small store in the center of Sterzing, they decided to break new ground. So they set up their own business in a rather unconventional way for the time - right on the main street.
At a time when the retail trade relied exclusively on full-service, Sabina and Walter boldly opted for a concept that was revolutionary at the time: self-service. This decision laid the foundation for a success story that continues to this day.
In the 1990s, Toni and Veronika Hofer - two of the founding couple's children - took over the management of the store. In the face of growing competition from large supermarkets, it quickly became clear that the key to the future lay in specialization.
Toni followed his passion for wine and spirits and worked hard to build up an exquisite wine department and an exceptional collection of high-quality spirits, which quickly became the store's trademark. Hofer Market has always stood for quality, personal advice and an unmistakable range.
Since 2019, the third generation has been running the business with daughter Sabine. As part of the handover, the business premises were modernized and given a new look.
The focus remains on selected wines and fine spirits complemented by carefully curated specialties from all over Italy.
For more than 5 decades, the Hofer Market family business has been a place for quality, enjoyment and personal encounters rooted in family tradition and at the same time open to the future.
